1. How did you get involved with beading?
I had always loved the beading section at Michael's when I would take mom so she could indulge her scrapbooking habit but never bothered to invest any money in it to get started. For my birthday my mom got me a huge starter kit that included tools, beads, findings, and even a pattern book. By the end of the day I had used probably a third of the beads that came with the kit and was itching to make more. I've been hooked ever since.
2. What inspires you? art, music, nature, etc...
There isn't anything in particular that inspires me. Unlike my writing where I might hear a song and suddenly have a story plot in mind this is all about sitting down with my supplies and seeing what jumps out at me.
3. What are some things you like about making crafts?
It's a great freedom of expression. I can indulge my love for blues and blacks without seeming morbid. I can use cute charms that might otherwise look childish in anything else. Most of all it's relaxing. It gives me a focus that isn't about bills, home life, children, or my case of writer's block.
4. How much time do you spend on beading?
More than I should. :D Often I get in a few hours a day. Sometimes taking a small kit of select items with me when I'm going to be away from the house for very long so I can fiddle instead of sitting around bored.
5. What are some of your favorite craft stores?
Michael's, Hobby Lobby, Ebay, Crafts ETC.com and Fire Mountain.
A bit more about me.
I'm 25 (just turned). I have two boys and one little girl. I am the all time Harry Potter dork. I'm a university student working on my Information Technology and Programming degree online via Kaplan University. I love computers, reading, writing, and beading obviously. I'm a classically trained southern lady aka I grew up with my grandmother so not only can I cook and clean (even though I totally hate to do that one), but I know how to quilt, sew my own cloths, do needle point, and can grow a garden with the best of them. I partly own a website that is devoted to discussion of well all kinds. I love the online video game Guild Wars but I've not been able to play in ages as it gets too addicting...I forget I have a life outside the game. I am a devoted hand bell ringer in my church choir. I sing when it's requested of me but otherwise like to forget that I'm a first soprano. I teach the 4 and 5 age group for Sunday School and am the small group leader for both the Sparks and T and T Awana groups for my church. I was a stupid teen mom that grew up into well a stupid 20 something that has more morals than I used to. lol I love life and try my hardest to live it with no regrets.
Okay yeah I guess that's about all for me.
